**IMPORTANT INFORMATION** - COVID Vaccination Programme Update

We are sure that you have all heard on the news about the rapid spread of Omicron, the new COVID-19 variant.  The government and NHS believe that the key to reducing the impact of this new wave of infection is to ensure that as many people as possible are fully vaccinated and have received their booster jab as well.  We have been instructed that this is the main priority for NHS services over the coming weeks and, as a result, we have been asked to expand our vaccination programme from the practice once again.  It is clear that without general practice playing a significant role as we did for administering doses 1 and 2, the target of vaccinating the majority of the population with their booster jab simply cannot be achieved within the timescale required.

Therefore, over the coming weeks, we will be substantially increasing the number of vaccination clinics we are offering.  This will be a huge challenge and a significant balancing act as we also try to maintain as many of our other services as possible.  We are committed to taking on this challenge as we believe it is the right thing to do to protect our community within Holderness.

We would strongly encourage everyone who is eligible to take up the offer of a booster vaccination.  And for those who have not yet had their first and second vaccinations to do so.  The options for booking your appointment are:

  • Book online with the National Booking Service or call 119.  Please note that you cannot book an appointment at the practice via this route.
  • Wait until you receive a text message or phone call from the practice inviting you to book with us.

We are currently working our way through the age groups and will be sending out lots more invitations over the coming days.  Please book as soon as you receive your invitation as this helps us to manage the demand for appointments.  Please do not ring the surgery to find out when you will receive your invitation as this will block the phone lines for other patients and we will not be able to give you a timescale as it depends on the number of bookings that are made from the invitations we send out.

We understand that discussions are underway regarding possible other vaccination sites in the Holderness area and we will share any information about this if and when we hear more.

Please do not hesitate to protect yourself, your family and our community this winter and book your vaccination as soon as you can!
