We provide a wide range of additional services and clinics. Brief details can be found below and further information is available via the reception.
Long Term Conditions Clinic
All patients who have two or more long term medical conditions ( eg. diabetes, heart disease, asthma) will now been seen once a year in the Long Term Conditions Clinic. This will provide a full review of all conditions and medications in a single visit.
Patients will be invited by letter when their review is due and advised to make an appointment for blood tests if required. An appointment with one of our team of Long Term Conditions nurses will then be arranged for approximately 1 month later.
Prior to an appointment, a GP and pharmacist will review the patients records and results and pass on any details of changes to the nurse.
At the appointment you will be offered advice and information about your conditions, including help with ongoing self management. You will be offered a copy of a personal care plan and information about other services eg. carer support, mental health that may be helpful to you.
Patients with only one Long Term Medical Condition will continue to be reviewed in a routine clinic. Your GP or nurse will advise when a review is due.
Child Surveillance and Immunisation Clinics
These clinics are held at Hedon every Wednesday between 1.30 and 3.00pm.The postnatal baby clinic is run in conjunction with the Health Visitors and baby immunisations are provided by our nursing team.
Minor Surgery
Minor surgery is performed in house to remove small lesions such as moles or cysts. Please see a GP in a routine appointment initially for assessment. If appropriate they will then refer you into this service.
Anti-coagulation
We offer a nurse led clinic for anti-coagulation monitoring for those patients taking warfarin. This consists of near-patient testing ( finger prick test) and immediate advice as to the correct dosage and follow up.
Maternity Care
For details on provision of maternity care, please refer to our dedicated leaflet, which is available in the main reception area.
Vaccinations and Immunisations
We provide information and advice about these to patients. Where the offer is accepted by the patient, we administer the vaccination/immunisation in accordance with guidelines.
A full range of standard vaccinations is offered including seasonal flu vaccination for high risk groups.
Travel advice
We have a nurse led clinic offering travel health advice and immunisations. Please complete a travel form and hand in to reception well before the date of travel. Click on tab above for further advice.
Contraception and Womens Health
Contraceptive advice is provided during normal surgeries by all doctors and nurse Janet .
A full range of contraceptives, including condoms, are available.
Coils are fitted by appointment - please discuss with nurse Janet or a GP.
Contraceptive implants are fitted by appointment - please discuss with nurse Janet or a GP.
Ring Pessaries can be fitted or changed during normal surgery hours. Please ask reception for further details.
Cervical smears
All women under 50 years of age are advised to have cervical smear tests every three years and those over 50 years of age, every five years. The cervical screening programme ceases at age 65 years.
Smear clinics are provided by our nursing staff and can be booked via reception.
Please note we can only perform your smear if you have received a smear invitation from the screening service. If you have any symptomatic problems please see a GP.
Breast Screening
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer amongst women. A nationwide breast screening service is offered for the benefit of women aged over 50. All women aged between 50 and 64 will be invited for initial breast screening (mammography) every 3 years. Women aged 64 will be entitled to the service every 3 years on request.
Holderness Community NHS Healthtrainer Service
The NHS healthtrainer service has recently been commissioned by the Holderness Locality Development Fund to roll out a peripatetic healthtrainer service throughout the Holderness Area.
The East Riding Health Trainer service supports individuals who wish to stop smoking, lose weight, get more physically active, reduce alcohol consumption, reduce stress and anxiety and improve their general well-being.
The NHS healthtrainer service is available to adults aged 18 or above who live within the East Riding of Yorkshire.
When? The NHS healthtrainers will be holding weekly clinics in Hedon starting from
Fridays with immediate effect from 1.00-4.30 pm
